This is gonna be mighty quick. I’m doing this as the game installs. Here are some pics of the Limited Edition and the strategy guide. Probably going to leave that sealed as it may become a collector’s item eventually. Enjoy.

Snake!!!!

From one of my most anticipated gaming moments in a long time. My excitement hasn’t been this high since Halo 3’s launch. Waking up this morning, I was greeted to two video reviews from Gametraliers.com and 1up.com. One of the recurring knocks I’m seeing associated with the game is the cutscenes. 1up stated that the first half of the game is 80% gameplay 20% cutscene, but the later half becomes increasingly more cinematic. To the point where it almost is detrimental to the game. I can see that as a valid criticism. Especially for some of the people who may be new to the series. This doesn’t sound like it will bother me that much, mostly because that’s one of the things that draws me to the series. I’ll have to wait until I get the game in my hands to see what other problems exist outside of what the reviewers stated. As soon as I get some substantial time in, I’ll be back to drop some quick impressions.

If The Boondocks proved anything, it’s that a nigga moment can ensue at any point. I love how this guy goes from “esteemed news reporter” to “angry/frustrated nigga.” All you need is that one seemingly unimportant variable to trigger it. In this case, niggas don’t like heat, and especially hate bugs.

10 miles and two double cheesburgers later…

Damn you Giant Bombcast. Out of mild intrigue from the Bombcast’s usual drink tasting session, I had to go out today and find the new Dew-Mocracy voted Mountain Dew flavors. I went to several gas stations around the area and had no luck. In a last attempt before my cheeseburgers became forever joined together with McDonald’s lovely wrapper, I ran into Wal-Mart and only found two of the flavors. I handed my $2.56 to the cashier and with that, lost a little bit of dignity. I really drove 10 miles for a fucking soda. Thanks alot.

MGS2: Sons of Libery retrospective

Sons of Liberly

Let’s get this out the gate now, this is easily the most convoluted and ludicrous story out of all the Metal Gear games. Period. Having said that, after playing through it again, I do understand some parts of the plot. But I’m not here to even try and break it down for you educated peoples, you can play the game for yourself or hit the wikis up. In terms of gameplay and graphics, Metal Gear Solid 2 holds up very well. From opening cinema on, the tanker chapter is amazing. Throughout the first two hours, I found myself in awe of how good this game still looks. Although the plant chapter is as equally good looking, there are parts where it shows its age. As a whole, the game is very enjoyable. The only dirty spots of the game are some annoying characters and a plot that is confusing, with some very bizarre theories. With MGS4 releasing tomorrow, I’ll be back sometime then to give some early impressions from the finale of Solid Snake.

MGS: Twin Snakes retrospective

•June 11, 2008 • No Comments

I, like most of the world who is anticipating MGS4, have been trying to find anyway possible to brush up on the the almost inconceivable story of the series. The last time I played the original Metal Gear Solid was 1999 so I was walking into Twin Snakes with nothing but rosy memories about the game. By the time the credits rolled, I finally understood the story. Although that part of Twin Snakes is identical to it’s PS1 counterpart, some of the changes (or enhancements as the developer would call it) weren’t so hot. The new director of the cutscenes must have thought Snake and Neo were one in the same. Short of seeing binary code in first person, Snake took a lot of the similar traits of aforementioned hero. Seeing Snake backflip to dodge fire while in bullet time or kicking a rifle into the air while spinning to catch is almost as ludicrous the rest of the story, but the new cutscenes just don’t fit the tone of the game. Also as many people have stated, the first person aiming ability makes the game a breeze. I didn’t have as big a problem with the redone voice acting, which was reread by almost all the original actors. As a whole, Twin Snakes is an interesting entry into the series for those who may not be able to stomach the dated PS1 visuals.

Lyricist Lounge Show.

•March 29, 2008 • No Comments

This is a flashback to my younger days. I remember I used to watch this show all the time. It was when Lyricist Lounge started getting a little bit of shine, and they decided to link with MTV to have a hip hop sketch comedy show. The idea of this sounds pretty horrible…and it was. You couldn’t have said that to me back when it was first on though. The only true MCs that I could remember on the show were Wordsworth (the only one who makes the sketches bearable) and Master Fuol. It was nice to see some other MCs come through and make guest appearances, but let’s face it. Hip hop and sketch comedy was not going to be the next Reese’s combination. For those who might have never seen it or forgot about it, here are a few videos.
